Challenge #7: Doodle on a Photo

1. Open Photoshop and set up your document using this video: 


2. Use the Wacom tablet, Photoshop and a photo reference to create a digital illustration
 


3. Use white on a new layer to add HIGHLIGHTS.
 

4. Use Color on a separate layer. Watch the video to learn how to paint/blend softly. 





Helpful Hints for the tablet:
1. Create and organize your layers... Set the photo layer to 60% opacity and lock it.

2. Zoom in with Ctrl + and Zoom out with Ctrl - 

3. Control the size and hardness of your brush in the control panel. (Bracket keys {[ and ]} will increase and decrease your brush size quicker)

Challenge #7: Vector Illustration (stickers) 

1. Make two original vector designs...


2Fill/Organize designs to fill up a letter sized document (8.5in x 11in)

3Print on sticker paper (optional)

Challenge #6: Personal Logo 

1. Check out this presentation first and check these out for inspiration: 123 beautiful personal logos


2. Requirements for the personal logo challenge: 
  • Must show shapes and type skills learned in class. 
  • Use C.A.R.P. to make 20ish rough logos for yourself. 
  • Must include your initials or your name. 
  • Must connect to your personality or your interests 
Example Below: (FYI - I went above and beyond the minimum 20)


4. Add all work to your portfolio

Challenge #5: TYPE it 
1. Open Illustrator and go to FILE>NEW 
Call it: Last Name_Stacked
Make it: 6 x 6 inches

4. Use your new illustrator skills to stack the word stacked. 
Don't forget to "create outlines" and "un-group"


2. Add color, effects/filters and play with new tools in order to make it your own unique design that communicates the meaning of the word visually. 


6. Save it.... then export as (jpeg) 

7. Repeat this process 3 more times with words of your choosing.
Here are some ideas: 
JUMP, PLAY, ORDER, TWIST, CUT, IMPERFECT... come up with some on your own....

8. In the end you will have 4 "Type It" Designs

Challenge #3: Mixed Messages

1. Explore some themes to get an idea, a direction or starting point...

3. Gather and save high quality images that you will use to make a photo-montage. Try Pexels.com 

4. Open Photoshop go to File>New to produce an 8x10 or 10x8 or 8x8 or 11x17 inch 300 resolution CMYK color mode document. 

5. Create a photo-montage using Photoshop and use the techniques that we practiced to make your image look seamless. Do not forget to consider the elements and principles of design.

6. Save your work as a PSD and a copy of your work as a JPEG and add it to your portfolio.
